Lake Oberblegi (Oberblegisee)

From Braunwald the trail takes you on a gently ascending road to the mowing fields (Unterstafel) of the Braunwald Alp. A path that leads across meadows and through light forests, “flows” into the valley of Bösbächi.
From there the trail leads you downhill, to the mountain station of the Brunnenbergbahn. The cable car takes you to Luchsingen and from there you go back to Linthal by train or out of the valley directly home.

The hike starts with a ride on the Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel cable car. From Grotzenbüel it begins with a gently sloping path to the mowing fields (Unterstafel) of the Braunwald Alp. A path that leads across meadows and through light forests, “flows” into the valley of Bösbächi. A beautiful mountain trail then leads to the Oberblegi lake. From there the trail leads downhill, to the mountain station of the Brunnenbergbahn. From Braunwald village you hike up to the Gumen Bahn, a unique combination of a cable car and chair lifts, which takes you up to the Gumen. From there you have a wonderful view over the mountains of Glarus. The trail then leads you over the Kneugrat, offering a view of the deep blue Oberblegisee on to the Grotzenbüel. Tips:

Bächialp adventure: spend the night on the Bächialp in your own sleeping bag. Early morning sightseeing of the cheese production facility from 08:30 until 10:30, followed by brunch in Bächistübli.
