Winter hike Nussbüel
On a convenient road which is mostly horizontal, this leisurely winter hike - past frozen mountain streams, through the magical forest of Braunwald, - starts in the village. At the cozy Nussbüel restaurant you will find a lovely sun terrace and a sweet, home-made "Gugelhopf" (a local bundt cake specialty).
The hike takes 2 hours (return-trip), goes mostly horizontal (it ascends only a little) and is suitable for pushchairs.
You start in the village from the Braunwaldbahn station and follow the path down towards Niederschlacht (attention, not to the train station, but stay on the road). Then follow the signs for "Nussbühl".
Another possible route starts from Hüttenberg. After you pass Hotel Cristal, take the junction on the left and then follow the signs for Nussbühl.
The way to Nussbüel with the horse-drawn carriage is a highlight! More about the carriage ride.
Insider tip in winter:
When you make a reservation, you can enjoy a fine cheese fondue here, followed by a relaxed hike back to the village with torches.
In winter, please check the actual situation (avalanche danger!), you will find it in the winter sports reports. On the winter sports report. The road is closed when there is a risk of avalanches.
